En Jan era un menut que tenia sempre molta gana. Encara tenia edat de menjar la llet amb les farines de cereals, però ell sempre buscava i demanava el menjar dels grans. I li deixaven provar de mica en mica. Ell hagués volgut menjar sempre com els grans.
Quan el seu germà Guillem va fer volar enlaire el seu bol de llet amb aquells cereals torradets i dolcets, de nen gran... en Jan va riure content. I es llepava els bigotis aprofitant aquesta pluja inesperada de llet i cereals. Només l'ósset de peluix es va dur un ensurt de mort.
